Metro Nashville police said a man shot and killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself Friday afternoon in Hermitage.
The incident took place at 5 p.m. on Bonnaspring Drive where the wife’s mother lived. Beverly McPherson, 42, was the woman who was killed, according to police.
Investigators said the couple was estranged. The husband, Antwaund Cartwright, 39, went to his wife’s mother’s home and argued with McPherson, police said. McPherson then went back outside and got a shotgun. According to police, he shot and killed McPherson in the living room and then killed himself minutes later.
There were three other people at the home at the time of the incident, but they were not injured.
