Blood Assurance and the Williamson County-based Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation are teaming up to save the lives of cancer patients.
From Aug. 1-31, Blood Assurance will donate $10 to the foundation for every individual who gives blood at the organization’s donation centers in Middle Tennessee (Bellevue, Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Cool Springs, Hermitage and Tullahoma).
“We are ecstatic to partner with Scott and his wonderful foundation,” J.B. Gaskins, CEO of Blood Assurance, said in a news release. “By giving blood, donors are already helping those suffering from debilitating illnesses such as cancer. Through this initiative, we are boosting efforts to save even more lives. We hope the community will rally around this unique opportunity.”

Buffkin / Baker names Steve Marsh partner

Dell Technologies adds Jackie Light as co-site director
Dell Technologies, one of the first high-tech companies to establish a major hub in Nashville, announced the appointment of Jackie “JJ” Light as co-site director. In this role, Light will work alongside Jamaal Oldham and Shoshana Samuels to lead Dell’s local Nashville campus and community initiatives. He will also manage a monthly event series that brings employees back to campus and encourages team building.

Hathorne announces Chris Gass as new executive chef
Hathorne, an American restaurant from chef and owner John Stephenson that embraces community, fellowship and local seasonal ingredients, announced Chris Gass as executive chef. In this role, Gass is responsible for planning, developing, curating locally and overseeing the hyper-seasonal menu that Nashville guests have grown to love at Hathorne, where fine dining and a casual atmosphere seamlessly combine.
The Nashville native but longtime North Carolinian returned to his Music City roots in 2020 when he became the chef de cuisine at 5th & Taylor. Tennessee Pharmacists Association announces president
The Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA), the only professional association representing pharmacists in all practice areas across the state, announced Dr. Jay Phipps, owner of four community pharmacy locations in McKenzie, Jackson, Huntingdon and Waverly, as the organization’s 2022-23 president.
Phipps has an extensive pharmacy background and more than 20 years of experience in the profession. He earned his doctorate of pharmacy and completed a residency in drug information and pharmacotherapy at the University of Tennessee. Immediately after, Phipps opened City Drug Company in McKenzie as the managing partner and became its sole owner two years later. In 2004, he rebranded his independent pharmacy as Phipps Pharmacy, Inc., based in McKenzie, where he has served as president and CEO for more than 17 years. He formerly served as a member of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) board of trustees and chair-elect of the TPA’s Society of Student Pharmacists (TSSP) and National President of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP).
C Spire names executive team to lead growing Nashville office
C Spire has named an executive team to guide its expansion in Nashville and across the state and promoted technology veteran Allen McIntosh, who has more than 20 years of telecommunications industry experience, to lead the charge as managing director for Tennessee.
Joining McIntosh to lead the Nashville office are Derek Usner and Risher Robertson, who serve as commercial sales directors in the marketplace. C Spire opened its Nashville office in 2020, and it has grown to nearly 50 employees. The office, part of C Spire Business, offers a wide array of managed telecom services, including internet, VoIP, network design, cloud solutions and specialized IT needs.
