Nashville adult learning collective gets grant for data sharing

A Nashville-based education collective that is focused on tripling the number of local adults who achieve their educational goals has received a $23,500 grant from the Jackson National Life Insurance Company.

The money will be used to effectively share data among members to maximize the impact and effectiveness of their educational programming on adult learners.

The GOAL (Growing Opportunities for Adult Learners) Collective is a group of over 14 adult education providers collaborating to improve adult education access within Nashville.

Ameshica Linsey, the Collective’s newly appointed associate executive director, said the funding will be used to implement a data system that will centralize intake capabilities, support interagency referrals and streamline outcomes for individual providers.

Linsey said that data sharing across GOAL’s member organizations is vital to ensure each agency is running at capacity, limiting duplicative programs and reducing the strain adult learners face when transitioning between agencies.

“GOAL Collective is the first collective impact model funded by Jackson National Life Insurance Company, and we are honored to have their generous support in this critical work,” Linsey said.

The GOAL Collective was one of nine nonprofits in the Nashville area to benefit from $175,250 in grants awarded by Jackson’s community grant program, according to Danielle Robinson, assistant vice president of corporate philanthropy.

The other nonprofits are the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maury County, the Community Resource Center, End Slavery Tennessee, Nashville Children’s Alliance, NeedLink Nashville, Operation Stand Down Tennessee, Project Return, Inc. and UniCycle.

Jackson will provide grants to more eligible nonprofits this fall, particularly to organizations that support strong families and increase economic opportunities in the communities where Jackson operates.

Charitable organizations in the Nashville area interested in applying for a grant from Jackson are encouraged to submit an application for consideration by visiting the company’s website. The next grant application deadline is Thursday, Sept. 1.
