The Fairview Masonic Lodge #776 F&AM invites everyone to join the fun as they host their first-ever Autism Poker Run on Saturday, June 5.

The poker run is an organized event in which participants donate $20 to ride motorcyles, jeeps, street-legal UTVs, cars or trucks and visit five to seven checkpoints where they will draw a playing card at each one.

The object is to hold the best poker hand by the end of the run.

Registration runs from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Fairview Masonic Lodge, located at 7105 Bowie Lake Road. There is a $20 donation requested for each entry with all proceeds benefitting Autism Awareness and Support Programs.

The group ride KSU (kick stands up) will begin at 10:15 a.m. Prizes will be awarded including $100 for best hand and $50 for worst hand.

Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. It usually develops in children and is not curable, but can be helped with therapy. It can affect the whole body, leading to sleep disorders, ADHD, anxiety and depression. Studies suggest one in 68 children will be diagnosed with autism in some form.

The Fairview Masonic Lodge is happy to show their support for Autism Awareness and invite all of Fairview to do the same next Saturday, June 5.
