The Stones River Woman’s Club will hold its Christmas open house at the Two Rivers Mansion Dec. 4-5. Two Rivers Mansion is at 3130 McGavock Pike. The elegant Italianate mansion will be embellished in holiday splendor for this annual event that features a bake sale and self-guided tours of the fully decorated mansion. Docents will be available to answer any questions. The open house hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Santa Claus will be available 1-3 p.m. Sunday to pose for photos with young visitors.
Admission to the open house is $5 at the door and children under the age of 10 are no charge. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available and are encouraged. Light refreshments will be served. There will also be a bake sale featuring homemade, delicious desserts, and new this year, will be a Christmas Shop to purchase new holiday items. The public is invited to attend. Profits will go toward the maintenance of the mansion’s interior and other community projects sponsored by the Stones River Woman’s Club.
Two Rivers Mansion was completed in 1859, and remained in the McGavock family until 1965. In 1966, the mansion was purchased by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Since 1979, the Stones River Woman’s Club has donated more than $90,000 for restoration and redecoration projects in the mansion.
