Humpday Throwback 2

Pictured is Clover Bottom where Gen. Andrew Jackson raced his horse. In the Clover Bottom area of Donelson back in the day, horse racing was the sport of kings, according to historians. It became the sport in Middle Tennessee around 1804. The Clover Bottom Jockey Club was the main scene of Tennessee turf activity. Jackson loved the turf. He trained and raced his colts at the Clover Bottom Racetrack.  ‘Truxton’ was a colt he brought from Virginia and was considered a superior horse.
