It’s rare for me to come out the gate and simply relay how much I love a book.

But “Daisy Jones & The Six” was a hit by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

The story — like an interview that never ends — builds great intrigue and brings readers inside the world of a rock ‘n’ roll band. I honestly had a hard time putting this book down, and I read this book late into each night until I finished.

Reid sets up the tale in the ‘60s. Our main protagonist, Daisy, is trying to find herself during that time. She’s sleeping with rock stars twice her age while dreaming of becoming the front person of a band and singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. She loves rock ‘n’ roll, and by the time she hits 20, folks are starting to notice her voice, not just her beauty.

Parallel to her story, another band was picking up steam: The Six. Bill Duane leads the group. He is faced with looking down the barrel at adulthood when his girlfriend, Camila, tells him she’s pregnant. Along the way, Billy and Daisy meet up to sing.

That’s where the story really begins.

I borrowed this book from a friend, and I wish I had purchased it myself. I loved the style and the ease. I appreciate the effort it must have taken to research bands from that time period to present a fictionalized version of a band — the good, the bad and the ugly.

This book also approaches hard-hitting topics like abortion and addiction. Reid handles both with care and provides empathy and feminist flair.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book to the nth degree. And I don’t want to spoil this book for you. But I will give you a bit of encouragement.

I am further happy to report that this book is becoming a television show. The crew just met for its casting call, but there is not a set release date.

Hopefully, we will see it as early as next year.
