Celebrate the holidays in Nashville: Here’s what’s coming up in December

With both classic staples and new events, Nashville has many events to enjoy this holiday season.

The Immersive Nutcracker: A Winter Miracle is an interactive experience at Lighthouse Artspace Nashville that is open throughout December. Tickets are available here.

For those who want to be dazzled by Christmas lights, check out Christmas at Gaylord Opryland, the Nashville Zoo’s Zoolumination, Cheekwood, Enchant at First Horizon Park and Jingle Beat at the Nashville Fairgrounds.

 

 

Nashville Repertory Theatre is delighted to present Elf the Musical. Based on one of the most beloved holiday films, Elf the Musical transforms onto the stage at Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s James K. Polk Theater, 505 Deaderick St., through Jan. 1. For ticket and showtime information, visit www.nashvillerep.org.

Kwanzaa Nashville has events planned for each night of the holiday, celebrated from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. All events are free except for a presentation by the Sankofa African Drum & Dance Company and Shackled Feet Dance on Dec. 26. Tickets for that event are $22. Other events include a Black business expo, panels and speakers, a craft workshop and a celebration with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Participants can RSVP on Kwanzaa Nashville’s Linktree.

New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash is being hosted by Jimmie Allen, Elle King and Rachel Smith. The program will air on CBS, and locals can catch the show for free at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. Live performances include Brooks & Dunn, Kelsea Ballerini and the Zac Brown Band. Gates at Bicentennial Park will open at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.
