FiftyForward, a partner in the Nashville community since 1956 to support older adults through its myriad programs and services, continues to support, champion and enhance life for older adults during the new coronavirus pandemic.
While its centers remain closed and many staff members work from home, the agency has deployed several teammates to keep essential services up and running. The services include food support for center members who rely on meals at the centers; for foster grandparent volunteers who are normally fed at the schools where they serve; and the continued service to FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels clients.
FiftyForward teammates pivoted to new roles and are stationed at FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels sites at 3511 Belmont Blvd. and at FiftyForward Bordeaux at 3315 John Mallette Drive in Nashville to assemble self-stable food boxes and serve food for older adults in need.
Currently FiftyForward provides:
• regular daily FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels delivery.
• additional Tuesday-Thursday food delivery to vulnerable older adults who were identified via the FiftyForward intake phone number.
• daily lunch delivery to FiftyForward Bordeaux and FiftyForward Madison Station members who are registered for the Metro Congregate Meals Program.
Anyone who knows an older adult in Davidson or Williamson counties who needs help in meeting essential needs, especially for food, call 615-743-3416 Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Since FiftyForward centers are closed and continue to provide essential services, the best way to help is to donate at fiftyforward.org so food and services can be provided to older adults who cannot get out and are isolated.
Established in 1956, FiftyForward operates seven lifelong learning centers – two in Williamson County and five in Davidson County – and offers educational, health and wellness, arts and volunteer programs to engage older adults. Five FiftyForward centers are among the elite 1 percent of centers accredited in the U.S. by the National Institute of Senior Centers. FiftyForward provides access to resources and comprehensive supportive services, including FiftyForward Adult Day Services, FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels, as well as the FiftyForward Care Team that provides care assessment and services. FiftyForward Travel offers adventures near and far, and the Senior Center for the Arts and the Larry Keeton Theatre, a subsidiary of FiftyForward, feature performing arts for all ages.
