Stones River Body

Members of the Nashville Fire Department are on the scene of a drowning reported in Stones River in Hermitage.

Nashville firefighters found the body of a person who drowned in Stones River on Oct. 23 near Polo Park.  

Nashville fire public information officer Joseph Pleasant said firefighters responded to a 911 call, “from someone who spotted the body in the river.”

The call came in at 1:02 p.m. near Polo Park.

Firefighters dispatched Boat 22 to the area to retrieve the body and then took it to the medical examiner’s office in Nashville, Pleasant said.

Metro-Nashville police confirmed the body was of a woman from Shelbyville and ruled the death an apparent suicide. 

More information is expected on the incident, according to authorities.
