Gov. Bill Lee will deliver his budget and legislative priorities in the annual State of the State address on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m., the governor’s office announced. The speech will take place during a joint session of the legislature in the House Chamber of the State Capitol.

Lee is expected to outline a significant investment in state road projects and ask the legislature to authorize optional toll lanes to alleviate traffic congestion. He will also likely outline funding proposals for the struggling Department of Children’s Services, and proposals for improving protections for the environment teased in his inaugural speech.

“Tennessee is leading the nation, and I look forward to sharing my budget and legislative priorities for the upcoming year that will ensure we remain a standard bearer for opportunity, security and freedom,” Lee said in a statement Wednesday. “I believe our state’s best days are ahead, and together with the General Assembly, we will continue working to make life better for all Tennesseans.”

Lee was sworn in for a second term of office last Saturday. This will be his fifth State of the State address, and will be streamed on the governor’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
