Metro Nashville Hermitage police investigated a shooting in Hermitage overnight Monday.
Public information officer Kristine Mumford said the shooting took place in the 700 block of Wyntree North in Hermitage at 1 a.m.
The victim, 21, was shot outside his home, and police continued to look for suspects.
“We believe the suspect was not a stranger,” Mumford said. “We believe the victim will survive. He was shot in the upper body,”
Paramedics took the victim to TriStar Summit Medical Center, and later took him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to Mumford.
Police believe the suspects left the scene in a vehicle. Detectives talked to witnesses and took statements, said Mumford. They were also going door-to-door asking questions and planned to look at area surveillance video.
Police withheld the name of the victim due to the ongoing investigation.
