The McGavock High School marching band was named grand champion of the fifth-annual Stones River Marching Championship as the band prepares to play host to its own competition.
The Stones River Marching Championship was Sept. 28 at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro. McGavock also won outstanding music, outstanding visual, outstanding general effect and outstanding percussion. The band also won the large division cannon.
The band also competed in the Vanderbilt Marching Invitational on Oct. 5 and will play host to its own Music City Invitational on Oct. 19 at McGavock High School.
The band also plans to compete at the Austin Peay Mid-South Invitational on Oct. 26 before the season culminates Nov. 2 at the Contest of Champions at Middle Tennessee State University.
