A Nashville man died Saturday afternoon in a two-car collision on Old Hickory Boulevard.
It appeared weather conditions played a part in the wreck.
There was a rainstorm at the time Robert Weaver, 36, drove on Old Hickory Boulevard. Metro Nashville police believe his vehicle hydroplaned at about 2:15 p.m.
According to police, Weaver drove a 2009 Honda Fit headed south on Old Hickory Boulevard, hydroplaned and crossed over into oncoming traffic.
Police said he collided with Frankie Rhone, 57, who drove a Silverado pickup truck.
Weaver died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. Paramedics took Rhone to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Rhone was wearing a seat belt.
According to police, the cause of the wreck was excessive speed during weather conditions. Police didn’t find any signs of drugs or alcohol at the scene.
