Man arrested in girlfriend’s shooting

An 18-year-old Nashville man wanted in the shooting of his girlfriend at her Dellway Villa Road apartment complex Oct. 4 is now jailed after TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives surveilled him walking into a Dickerson Pike convenience market Tuesday afternoon.

As detectives wearing clearly marked police vests entered the market to take Donte Bell Jr. into custody, he resisted and kept trying to reach for his waistband area, Metro police said. Once handcuffed, Bell was found to be carrying a loaded semi-automatic pistol in his front pocket and $1,549 cash. A subsequent search of Bell’s Jeep turned up another loaded pistol, three baggies of marijuana and a digital scale, police said.

TITANS detectives had been working to locate Bell over the past week given the seriousness of the domestic-related shooting, in which his girlfriend’s leg was broken by the bullet.

Bell is being held in lieu of $97,500 bond. — Staff Report
