A suspect accused of fatally shooting Daelon Smith, 21, on Jan. 2 turned himself in Jan. 4, according to Metro Nashville police.
Police said the killing was apparently due to a marijuana buy gone wrong.
Nicolas Turner turned himself in at the criminal warrants division. According to homicide unit Detective Chris Cote, the investigation indicated Smith and a friend reportedly arranged to meet Turner at the Hermitage Flats apartments at 5636 Old Hickory Blvd. for a marijuana buy. Police said Smith and Turner got into a fight, and Turner allegedly shot Smith.
