The Stones River Woman's Club held its Music City district fall meeting of the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Tennessee recently at Two Rivers Mansion in Donelson.

Club members from Nashville and surrounding areas attended. Tennessee's First Lady Maria Lee was the guest speaker. Lee informed the clubs of her Tennessee Serves initiative. She said everyone should "simply serve," and "one act of kindness can make a difference." The first lady spoke of the Tennessee Kids Summer Challenge, which featured children serving their communities for 1,400 service hours in two months. To help with Lee's challenge to "simply serve," club members donated personal hygiene products, canned food and peanut butter for the organization to distribute to those in need.
