Updates with new planned opening date.
The Queen of Southern cuisine Paula Deen pegged the Opry Mills area to open her fifth restaurant.
Southern-inspired, mouth-watering dishes created by Deen and her family will be available next month.
Restaurant representatives confirmed a Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen is will bring its Southern hospitality to the Donelson area and is scheduled to open its doors Oct. 26 at 575 Opry Mills Drive behind Opry Mills Mall.
Guests can help themselves to endless portions of out-of-this-world Southern food and pass dishes around with family and friends in a setting that feels like home. All Deen’s dishes are pulled from the pages of her cookbooks.
Restaurant representatives said Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen captures the elegance and history of Savannah, Georgia. Her first restaurant, the Lady & Sons, opened in downtown Savannah in January 1996. The Donelson location will be the fifth with the first opened in Pigeon Forge, followed by restaurants in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Branson, Missouri; and Foley, Alabama.
A representative said the Opry Mills Drive location is not a new build but a renovated former structure to be a unique design from other locations that resemble the style of Paula Deen’s own home, including the artwork.
The 17,000-square-foot, 406-seat restaurant next to the Cumberland River and adjacent to Opry Mills Mall will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Deen said she is excited about the new location.
“The dishes that are passed around the tables at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen are the foods my grandmother taught me how to cook at her own kitchen table,” said Deen. “It means so much to be able to share those traditions and recipes with the Nashville community and its visitors.”
Guests will enjoy endless portions of classic recipes from Deen’s kitchen, including beloved classics such as Paula’s signature Southern fried chicken and ooey gooey butter cake.
To enhance the experience, the Paula Deen Store will be found inside the restaurant.
“Paula has hand-selected every item in the retail space, which features many products from the Paula Deen line, including cookbooks, aprons and cookware, as well as some of Paula’s personal favorite picks and a few items exclusive to her Nashville store,” said a restaurant representative.
Officials said Donelson was chosen, “Because we wanted guests to have the best experience of music, shopping, entertainment and more all in one area.”
There will be plenty of parking, and it will be a space to accommodate guests.
The new restaurant plans to hire more than 200 employees. Those interested in applying should visit pauladeensfamilykitchenjobs.com.
