Harold Wayne (Goose) Johnson, Colonel USAF Retired, age 94 of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Harold was born September 6, 1925.

He served as a storekeeper second class US Navy during WWII at Saipan, South Pacific. After being discharged in 1946 he met and married Sara Ruth McMillan RN on May 18, 1947 at Thomasville Ga.

Shortly after this marriage Mrs. Johnson transferred with the Veteran Administration to Nashville and Harold joined the TN Air National Guard. He was promoted to first Sergeant. At the beginning of the Korean conflict he was appointed Second Lieutenant Adjutant of the 105th fighter squadron. He was briefly transferred to McGuire AFB, NJ as Adjutant of the fifth fighter squadron. Returning to 105 th fighter squadron which had been transferred to Knoxville, He served there while McGhee - Tyson Air Force Base was under construction and led the parade in dedication of the base.

Upon his release in Nov. 1952 he returned to Nashville and assisted in reorganizing the Tennessee Air National Guard after the Korean Conflict. He served in several positions retiring as Deputy Commander for Resources of the 118th Airlift Wing in Nov 1980.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife Sara Johnson.

Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Bohr and Steve Huddleston, Ann and Billy Walker; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery.
