Wynema “Woman of the Brave Heart” Jane Dorris Billingsley

Wynema “Woman of the Brave Heart” Jane Dorris Billingsley, 75 amazing years, of Nashville, Tenn.

We surrounded our precious mother and best friend with love on Monday, June 15, 2020. She moves on with us in heart and spirit and is our rainbow watcher in the sky as she pours love into the sunrise, sunset and clouds rolling by. We are grateful to each of you who loved and appreciated her inner and outer beauty, vibrancy and brilliant wit and charm. She adored life with zest and zeal and brought an abundance of love, joy and infectious laughter everywhere she went. We commonly hear, “She was my mother, my sister or my best friend.” She was an entrepreneur and a visionary with a beautiful soul. Jane attended Litton HS, located near Elvis’ studio, and one night chased him in his pink Cadillac. She also attended Volunteer State College. Nothing stopped her from believing and setting the bar high for her life, children and everyone around her. We are so very proud of her accomplishments and legacy. Jane wrote and recorded songs on Music Row and later realized the opening of “The Chapel,” which is a local venue where people come from all over the world and continues to beam with light & love. Jane’s delightful, iconic swan song allowed her to help others fulfill their dream. She took pride and care in every detail for all her events. She always said, “It is the best song that I’ve ever written.” Jane was a dreamer, a believer and had a love for the water & ocean, sailing, a bright full moon, singing and dancing when possible, soulful music and fireside conversations. When life gave Jane lemons, she made lemonade and splashed her champagne in it. These are only a few characteristics that made her so effervescent and endearing to those around her. Please keep her spirit alive by kicking the sand at the beach, loving one another unconditionally, making wishes and continuing to dream for our golden shooting star who passed through life sprinkling magic and love on everyone she met. Jane is reunited with loved ones: her beautiful mother Wynema Stallings Harris (Elijah), father Robert Dorris, brother Robert G. Dorris JR., and a plethora of fabulous family & friends. She will be waiting on the other side for her sons Kelly Billingsley (Jackie), Jack Billingsley (Shannon), daughter Kandice Young (Mason), beloved partner Mitchell Marsch; grandchildren Elijah, Samantha; sisters Nancy Nash, Anna Kingsnorth (Jim), Angela Polk, adoring cousins, nieces & nephews, her Goldendoodle Sundance, grand dogs and cats.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions towards The Chapel for Jane’s Garden: The Chapel, 2415 Atrium Way, Nashville, TN 37214. Paypal: thechapelnashville.com/janesgarden
