The McGavock girls team struggled to keep the game within reach in the second half and fellto Hillsboro 64-21 last Friday night.

The team’s senior leader, Jada Johnson, went down late in the second period, and she returned later in the game with an ice pack on her knee.

In her absence, the Lady Raiders were unable to keep the same production on both ends and were outscored 36-6 in the second half.

Despite missing most of the game, Johnson’s six points were enough to lead the team in points, along with Erionna Reed.

Johnson has the most experience on the team and has consistently led the team in scoring night in and night out. She will be missed if she cannot return to the floor.

The Lady Raiders continue their district schedule at Hunters Lane on Friday night.

Hillsboro (64): Kamil Washum 17, Cori Allen 16, Trechelle Burch 10, Derriona Salter 8, Tazia Williamson 5, Jada Chambers 4 and Toniya Petway 4.

McGavock (21): Jada Johnson 6, Erionna Reed 6, Kamryn Marshall 5 and JaMya Gooch 4.
