Ben Singer’s go-ahead three-pointer with five seconds left was all Donelson Christian Academy needed to defeat White House Heritage 47-44 on Dec. 21 in the final round of the AFLAC Watertown Christmas Tournament. 

White House Heritage (5-7) put up a last-second shot, but it missed its mark. 

Donelson Christian (9-3) jumped out to an 18-7 lead at the end of the first period, but the Patriots went on an 18-3 run in the second to take a 25-21 lead at halftime. 

The Wildcats staged a comeback in the third on a 10-7 run to cut the lead to 32-31. In the fourth, Singer’s three made the difference and broke a 44-44 tie with five seconds left in the game.  

Jared Brummett led all scorers with 15 points, followed by Ben Branlund with 12 and Daniel Bale with 10 for White House Heritage. 

Parker Howell finished with 14 points to lead Donelson Christian, followed by Singer and Riley Stanton with nine apiece. 

Donelson Christian will face Clarksville Academy on Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at home, while White House Heritage faced Antioch last Thursday in the first round of the Goodpasture Christmas Tournament.

Donelson Christian 63, Moore County 51

A strong start propelled Donelson Christian over Moore County 63-51 on Dec. 20 in the second round of the AFLAC Watertown Christmas Tournament. 

The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the Blue Raiders at the end of the first period. Moore County came back in the second on a 16-12 run to trim Donelson Christian’s lead to 22-18. 

The Wildcats outscored the Blue Raiders 17-16 and hung onto a 39-34 lead at the end of the third and put together a 24-17 run in the fourth to get the win. 

Ben Singer led all scorers with 16 points for Donelson Christian, followed by Parker Howell with 15, Jaden Carman with 11 and Riley Stanton with 10.

Cookeville 62, Donelson Christian 52

Donelson Christian Academy took a loss in the opening round of the AFLAC Watertown Christmas Tournament on Dec. 19 as the Wildcats fell 62-52 to Cookeville. 

The Wildcats took an early 12-9 lead in the first period, but Cookeville stormed back on a 23-10 run in the second to take a 32-22 lead at the half. Donelson Christian outscored Cookeville 16-15 in the third and matched the Cavaliers 15-15 in the fourth, but the Cookeville lead was too much to overcome. 

Ben Singer led the Wildcats with 16 points, followed by Riley Stanton with 10.
