iNDIANAPOLIS _ Derrick Henry returned triumphantly to Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, roughly 11 months after suffering a broken foot that all but ended his 2021 season.

Henry ran for 114 yards and a touchdown with 99 of those yards coming in the first half of the Titans 21-17 win over the Colts. Henry also added 33 yards receiving on three catches.

In typical Henry fashion, the numbers and the return to Lucas Oil Stadium meant little to him, compared to the value of an AFC South road win.

“I don’t care about that,” Henry said of his first 100-yard rushing game since the injury. “We won, and I’m happy that we were able to make some plays on offense and do what we needed to do to get a W. Stats are stats; I’m just glad we won.”

Center Ben Jones said Henry’s will to win and succeed is a source of pride for those blocking for him, and that the star running back needs no extra motivation because that is way he approaches every game.

“He takes every game the same. He puts so much on his plate. He takes everything so personal. For us as an offensive line we love having a guy like that in the backfield. We take pride in him playing well,” Jones said.

Injury update

The Titans may have suffered more devastating injuries in the game. Linebacker Bud Dupree did not return after recovering a fumble in the first quarter. He re-aggravated the hip injury he suffered against Buffalo in week two.

Also, rookie Treylon Burks suffered a foot injury and was on crutches with a walking boot on his left foot in the locker room after the game. Burks was limping after making a catch in the second half, but stay in to play the next play. He went down on that play and had to be helped off the field and carted to the locker room.

The Titans, who went through 91 players last season, have been bitten by injuries again this season in the first four games, having put 10 players on injured reserve since final roster cuts were made on Aug. 30.

Welcome in

The Titans forced three turnovers in Sunday’s win and one of the fumble recoveries was forced by Joe Schobert, who dislodged the ball from Jonathan Taylor, and Kristian Fulton recovered it. Schobert was signed to the practice squad just this week after being cut by the Broncos in training cap. He was elevated to the roster for the game against the Colts.

Standings

The Titans are now tied for the AFC South lead, even with a meager 2-2 record. Jacksonville lost at Philadelphia, while to fall to 2-2.

The Colts, especially, are in dire straits despite having a better overall record than the Texans through four games. Indy dropped to 1-2-1 but fell to 0-2-1 in divisional games. The Houston Texans are 0-3-1, but with just an 0-1 mark in division play.
